Originally, Twin City Tire & Auto Service. This location has been serving the Bloomington area for over 50 years. Under new management we will continue to serve the community with the trust and respect that Twin City Tire & Auto has established with the community over the years.

I brought my Porsche Macan GTS to Matt’s Automotive Service Center in Bloomington and had an excellent experience. Jake and the team were professional, transparent, and great at keeping me informed throughout the entire process. They clearly explained what needed to be repaired, followed through on everything they promised, and got my car back to running perfectly. It’s not easy to find a shop you can trust with a performance vehicle, but Matt’s absolutely delivered. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for quality service and honest communication.

I brought my car in after the airbag light came on following a battery change. They took a quick first look at it and, since it turned out to just be an error light, they didn’t charge me. In a time when it feels like it’s easy to get taken advantage of, they were kind, honest, and genuinely helpful. No pressure, no upselling — just great service. I’ll definitely be back.

I’m a 76 year old woman with a 14 year old car. I have had my car into Matt’s Auto for engine repair, oil changes and overall maintenance. Every time I have received a detailed description of the repair and the cost which I believe I I a great price and it is completed in a timely manner. I was on the way to the cities to catch a plane to Olando and just as we got into heavy traffic my car, it started to loose power. We got to hotel, caught our plane and from Orlando I had to pick a shop to fix my car and had no idea where. Then i saw Matt's Automotive and have worked with them before in Fargo. I called and Salvatore took care of everything. Within the same day, he found there was recall on my car. He told the initiative to call the dealership and deal with the logistics. I really appreciate Salvatore and the guys at Matt's for saving my vacation.

People were extremely courteous and professional. The work itself seems to have been done well. That said, it was not ready when promised. First explanation for the delay was that they prioritized walk-ins over my repair. Second explanation for the delay was that they had to re-order a part and then prioritized walk-ins while they waited for the correct part. IDK if they ordered the wrong part, or if the wrong part was delivered. Either way, I would expect them to expedite getting the correct part rather than wait on next-day delivery - even if they had to walk over to the auto parts store and shell out any extra themselves.They did provide a rental at their expense for the extra time, but who feels comfortable in someone elses car?

Blew the engine on my car with only 117000 miles on it. Car was still in good shape, very little rust, a few dings, new tires and alternator. Call dozen of places about getting rebuilt or used engine. No real definite answers untill Rob at Bloomington store helped me figure out best approach. Car now has used engine, some warranty and runs great. It wasn't cheap but I'm pleased.Thank you.

Had my transmission serviced they are replacing the seal, it went quickly and I’m very pleased with the service. The shop guys are awesome.

After paying Bobby and Steve’s $2000.00 my check engine light came on again after a few days. Bobby and Steve’s couldn’t get me in till the end of the next week so I drove over to Matt’s. Robb decided to check my oil and found it was 2 quarts low. Problem solved!!!! Never going back to Bobby and Steve’s on 494 and France again! I’ve since been back to Matt’s again for an oil change and it was an excellent and honest experience. I definitely recommend them!

Got an oil change at a local Valvoline, noticed oil leaking out the bottom of truck with in minutes of the oil change. Went back to Valvoline and they told me it was a bad hose that needed attention. So I drove a quarter mile down the road and asked Mats automotive if they could have someone look at it. Knowing I had to appointment and late in the day when I arrived. Austin at the front counter said they were super busy and booked up but took time to walk out and look. When he seen the oil dripping out of the bottom of my truck he took the time to fit me in! They found the oil filter was was put on wrong and leaking oil from it and was already a quart low! I they replaced the oil filter and topped off the oil and looked it over to make sure there was no other issues! I would recommend this place because of the time they take and care they provide! I work out of town and drove aN hour out of my way to get an oil change. I appreciate Austin and the staff here and they saved me in a big way!

Brought my car in for service for a sound that I told the techs sounded like it came from the exhaust. After multiple days and calling in their (transmission expert)they told me they couldn't find any noise and the only possibility was that it was a loose transmission bracket. While doing the repair they then called me and told me they needed to sever my AC line and would need to refill it with freon which of course would also be charged.After being assured there were 0 noises coming from my car at all I came and picked it up. Pulling out of the their driveway I could already hear the noise and brought it back in to talk to the techs. Upon hearing the noise they said "Oh yea thats from the exhaust, it's not harmful but it is loud. It would be another grand to fix it do you really want to do that?"

Matt's provide oil change and enhanced safety and condition check on my 2004 Corvette. The work was completed faster than promised. The result of the vehicle check resulted in only a few minor, non-critical items for future work. Very honest team.

Upsell upsell upsell…Back in 2022, I brought it in (specifically) for an oil change only. Instead they did an inspection (no oil change!) and they charged me $150+++ for something I didn’t want or ask for… By the way, there inspection report suggested an oil change.The previous shop that was there (86th Lyndale) was honest upfront and good techs. After Matts moved in it wasn’t long and ALL the employees were gone! I went with them…

If you are a young woman do not go here. The worst experience with a car repair shop. Another shop told us what needed to be fixed and then we called Matt’s and asked them to do the specific job and talked with the person at the front several times. They told us they would. We brought the car into the shop but deceptively told me to fix the starter which I never explained that was needed in the initial phone calls or even tried to check the electrical issues like asked. Half a months rent later, the car was still having the same issues and they acted clueless when it agreed upon what they would take a look at/fix. Tried to tell me everything else that could be wrong with the car costing me hundreds of dollars instead of helping with anything that was asked of them.

Was recommended to this shop that was twin city tire for the longest time. Was given professional and honest repair quote before the repair and shelby the manager provided great customer service scheduling and pick up of vehicle.

Oil change was completed as requested. No more no less. FYI- oil change DOES NOT include topping off fluids. We were going to be charged 10-15$ to top off the coolant. Person at the desk appeared irritated and was short over the phone, and borderline rude when car was picked up.

Highly recommend getting your car diagnosed and repaired here. Good job at a fair price done quickly (in and out the same day for us) - they even provided complimentary Uber service. Can't beat that! Would definitely return again for future work.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences here at Matt’s. They are great at explaining what is happening with your vehicle, checking in about costs prior to servicing, and only providing service that is needed. Won’t go anywhere else as long as I live in this area.

If you are a young woman avoid this shop. I went in for my brakes and they spent 3 hours doing an inspection and then quoted that I needed over $10,000 worth of repairs. I got a second opinion and they said I did not need most of the repairs they quoted. The front desk salesman made it sound like something was seriously wrong with most systems in my car and made it sound like I should just get a new car. I feel like they were trying to prey upon the fact that I am a young woman and upsell me. I will not be returning to this shop.

I’m not someone who writes reviews, but I had such a positive experience with Matt’s Automotive, that I couldn’t wait to write this review! When my car stalled on a busy highway, I had it towed to Matt’s Automotive because AAA said the business is “AAA approved.” The staff could not have been nicer to me in such a stressful situation. They could’ve diagnosed anything as the problem(s) and easily taken advantage of me. Instead, they were extremely honest and ethical, and determined it was a simple cause and totally inexpensive solution. I’ll now go to Matt’s Automotive for all of my car repairs, with total confidence in their honesty and competence.

after being fleeced by a couple of other places in the area, I learned enough about car repairs to be dangerous. My attempt at fixing the problem myself went south and I had my car towed to Matt’s. They were super quick with finding the issues that had been the sources of a 6 month ordeal with my Toyota. The inspection report was incredibly thorough and helped me make an educated decision. They were kind, sympathetic, and got my car running as good as new. I will be returning to Matt’s for my routine maintenance and the additional work I need to keep ol’ Betty running smoothly.

If you are looking for a no pressure technology forward mechanic, come to Matts! Scheduled online, brought my car in the next day, and had a diagnosis within a few hours. Unlucky for me, my 2007 toyota needed a lot of repairs. Brian called me, told me what to expect and to look over the quote from the diagnostic I had them perform.Brian then called me back and went over everything and told me to just look at the quote and let us know what work we would like done. I appreciated this because there was no pressure. Laid everything out clear as day and gave me the option of what to repair. Brought in on a Thursday and I was back driving by the following Tuesday. Would highly recommend Matt's if you are in the Bloomington Area!

I don't normally care to write reviews, but Matt's Automotive really came through today and I feel compelled to share my experience.My local dealership wanted an outrageous figure for a short service job with expensive OEM parts, but fortunately Matt's Automotive was able to do the same service with the same OEM parts for significantly less, and they got it done same-day as well.Brian specifically went above and beyond to handle what was a somewhat unusual service issue, and I was able to drive off the lot today with a car that's running as smooth as when it was new.Having lived in Moorhead, I was a customer of Matt's for several years and had consistently received great service at a reasonable price. I'm happy to report that their Bloomington location meets the same standards, and I'm relieved that I don't have to search for a new reliable auto shop here in the Twin Cities.Matt's nails the customer experience. They have a reliable and intuitive system for assessing your vehicle and selecting what services you want done. The staff is always very friendly and receptive to all my questions. The waiting area is welcoming and clean. And they're fast in getting you a ride if you need to be somewhere.I've had a lot of negative experiences with other auto shops, but Matt's isn't one of them. They're a really tremendous crew that provides solid service, and I highly recommend them.

Came into Matt's Automotive for an inspection on my car. I was hearing noises and had no clue what was wrong. I spoke on the phone with Geoff and I received excellent customer service and they let me come in right away! They were completely honest and respectful, and gave me a low price for the issue. I was able to wait in the beautiful lounge, with free coffee and other beverages, and TV. Thanks again for all the help!

Matt's serviced my car & my dad's truck. We were super pleased with the quality and speed of the work, as well as the attention to detail and courteous & positive attitude of the Matt's team (even when I showed up to pick up at 5:00 on the dot - sorry!)The inspection was very thorough and they were up-front and honest about the cost of the work, availability of parts, and what was necessary vs. could be future maintenance. It was awesome to get my car back and be able to FEEL the difference in how it drives for the money I spent! Lol. We felt the value was great for the work they did and are happy to support and recommend a local spot 🙂

I've had service done at Matt's a couple times now - oil changed and other basic maintenance. I'm very happy with their service and the price compared to other shops. I really like the text updates and notification letting me know the work was done. Very professional. Matt's is the RIGHT place to go in Bloomington for honest reliable automotive service! Almost 200k miles and they've kept it running like a Rolex!

I couldn't get through on the phone so I went online and from there on out the service was flawless. The online system was very easy and convenient to follow. Started from leaving my info, to making an appointment, approving diagnostic services online, and then picking up my vehicle. I was also able to get through easily via Email with a question I had. I recently had a quick trip to this location to get the staff's help with a noise issue in my G37X, and I can't emphasize enough how impressed I was with the welcoming atmosphere. The place was exceptionally clean, smelled great, and they even offered water, coffee, and a fantastic phone charging station :p.Will was the person assisting me, and he truly went the extra mile to address my concerns. He made it clear that building trust and fostering long-term relationships with clients was his priority, and he certainly succeeded. Matt's did a great job letting us know what was making a sound on one of our rear wheels. They did not try and do work that was not necessary but gave us info and let us decide what we wanted to do with our vehicle. I would be comfortable sending friends or family to Matt's.

My car broke down on the side of the road early on a Saturday morning and I was able to get a tow to Matt's and leave my key in the dropbox. I was surprised to get a call almost as soon as they opened on Monday morning, and even more surprised to hear I didn't have to drive down there to meet with the technicians in person. Everything was handled online, and the customer service was excellent. Bernie was very kind and patient with me (I know next to nothing about cars) and answered all of my questions, and it was so easy to look at all the repairs my car needed online in real time as they updated the information in the system. I was also able to select repairs I wanted done and the ones I didn't. They were also very fast, and had my car done before the end of the day! I'm very satisfied with the service, and should the need arise I will definitely go to them again.
